On Tuesday (Aug. 27), Victoria Monét shared her eagerly awaited single “SOS (Sex on Sight).” Serving as her first standalone release of the year, the song arrived in collaboration with Usher.
“Let me f**k up all your plans / Come put this work in / ‘Cause I think it’s about time we take this all the way / I wonder which one of my lips gon’ be your first kiss,” Monét sang on the Camper-produced cut. She continued, “Doesn’t matter cause they both gon’ fit you perfect / And I’m ready, so don’t make me have to do this on my own.”
Elsewhere, Usher crooned, “I got a question, though / If I can make the time, are we good to go? / Texting me X and O’s / Can’t kiss, touch, lick through the phone, though / But I can make a cameo / In a movie only you see, keep it low.” Listen to the record below.
As Rap-Up previously reported, “SOS (Sex on Sight)” commemorates the first anniversary of Monét’s JAGUAR II. The 11-song effort housed the chart-topping “On My Mama,” “Smoke” featuring Lucky Daye and “Alright,” which got a visual companion in June.
The LP notably won Best R&B Album at the 66th Grammy Awards, where Monét also snagged Best New Artist. During her inspiring speech, the songstress explained, “This award was a 15-year pursuit. I moved to LA in 2009, and I like to liken myself to a plant [that] was planted. And you can look at the music industry as soil, and it can be looked at as dirty, or it can be looked at as a source of nutrients and water. My roots have been growing underneath the ground unseen for so long. And I feel like today, I’m sprouting finally above ground.”
Although she hasn’t given an update on the project, Monét teased a possible extended version of the aforementioned album in February. “I do want to put out a deluxe to JAGUAR II,” she told “The New Hit List” host Angelina Narvaez. “So, we’re working on that… It will be [released] this year.”
